Alternator for Stocker w/ EFI

I am currently running a very heavy duty Powermaster 140amp alternator with a 3 inch pulley and the thing has to be at least 15lbs so I was wondering what most guys use for alternators in stock. The car has EFI so I need something that charges adequately.

I run the small denso it weight about 6lbs and is a one wire deal. I will let you know where I get them as soon as I remember have it in my favorites on my other computer. I think I still have your number in my phone will send you a picture.

Re: Alternator for Stocker w/ EFI

I have a street machine built to GT/MA standards and I have had a ton of trouble trying to get an alternator to keep up with all the electrical demands of it. My current one is a 100 amp TuffStuff one wire that seems to be up to the task. Weight is an issue and it puts a strain on my aluminum heads with the current mounting bracket. The Denso form factor is nice but I don't think they would power my needs with full time lights, fuel pump, water pump, fans and a vacuum pump for the brakes.

I had a 140 amp Powermaster that came out of the box with the case bolts falling off. They looked like they had been bathed in acid and the nuts just sheared off with my finger tips. Nice return from Summit.

Can you share the link here when you get a chance.

By the way: Noticed you qualified number 2 last weekend at over a second under. Fast car.

I'd be very interested in getting that link also.

Here is the link this is the alt that I use. I took to a local alt shop and the put a 1 wire regulator in it for me for $25 DB may have them I am not sure can call and ask. This is small and light 30 amps. I change my pulley over to a serpentine belt. Have been using this for a couple of years now with out any problems on an efi car. let me know if anybody has anything better?

Any chance you would tell me where you found a serpentine pulley that will fit it. I have been wanting to do the same thing.
Thanks

Isn't a V-belt better for racing?

Have to google it later today on the crank pulley they are about $50. The alt pulley I got of ebay years ago from a nascar team then had to make a bushing to fit my alt, if I remember right paid $25 for 5 of them still have some stashed away some where. The pulleys did have the same number of ribs but just use the less number for the belt.
