c4 build
Hi everyone, long time no post.
I'm building 1973 Ford c4 transmission for friend. It'll be going behind a hot little 347. Owner is anticipating 500 ft. lbs. of torque. I would appreciate any suggestions to improve the build. Here's what I have so far: TCI input 24/26 C type servo Alto reds and steels Kevlar band 5 pinion front planetary Shift kit hasn't been purchased yet but a B&M or Fairbanks id being considered. Are there any other improvements I should make and will these parts hold in a c4? Thank you |

Sugest you talk to joel - Joels on Joy - He built all the C4's for the CJ Mustangs

Re: c4 build
The parts you have listed are a good start. The key to a high torque high RPM C-4 is replacing the thrust washers with Torrington thrust bearings. Once that is under control you may consider a manual shift fixed line pressure valvebody. The traditional shift kit with vacuum modulator line control and governor can be marginal with that much engine power. The Ford C-4 is an excellent transmission, It is light weight, fits well and has reasonable durability.
