Stock Eliminator Block Question

How strict are the tech inspectors on the block casting numbers? We are looking at doing an O/SA 1971 Maverick and have a few D0 casting blocks here but no D1 blocks to be found yet. I know the rule book states same year as car but is there any leeway involved at the tech level? On the other hand......the owner isn't going to sink a ton of money into the car to the point of challenging the record so I'm not sure how much attention he is likely to attract from the tech guys either.

Re: Stock Eliminator Block Question

As long as the block has the same bore size, deck height , main bearing bore size and made out of the same material, you should be OK .

You can use any Ford Motor Company SB. My advice is to find a later model "roller" style block (plentiful and cheap) and fill it to the bottom of the water pump hole with concrete/grout. We use the high tensile strength cement grout and its as good, probably better than any thing out there and a bunch cheaper. Have to thank the late Kip Martin for that. I think I have a standard bore already filled if your interested and can deliver to Houston National event in 3 weeks. $500.00 ready to machine. We went with an SVO block because of the 3.400 stroke of the 363 CJ combo.

Great! Thanks for the help, gentlemen. Owner has at least one Mexican block but I will see if he is interested in the filled block you have, RJ. I might get that one for myself if he isn't wanting to spring for it.

The block RJ is talking about is .030 finished bore and comes with a Canton girdle with fasteners and windage tray.

Marty uses a 4 cylinder turbo combo.
