Re: Interesting Commentary on Pro Stock and Factory Stock
Yes, we know all this..Old news.
The problem is the average fuel zombie walking around in the pits, COULDN'T care less. |
Re: Interesting Commentary on Pro Stock and Factory Stock
Asher is usually close to being correct. Not this time.
What he did get right is that Pro Stock may indeed be on the way out. And NHRA is so disconnected they'll never figure out how to fix it. |
Re: Interesting Commentary on Pro Stock and Factory Stock
I'm afraid Pro Stock will be fazed out in favor of Pro Mod. The fans like Pro Mod better because it more closely related to their beloved fuel cars, lots of explosions and wrecking.

Re: Interesting Commentary on Pro Stock and Factory Stock
pro stock has been on life support for at least a decade and will be gone as we know it within 5 years. The bigger concern should be is when does the plug get pulled on professional drag racing that the NHRA has been trying to sell for the last decade?

Re: Interesting Commentary on Pro Stock and Factory Stock
I used to love Pro Stock but in the past 5 years it has really gotten boring and I understand that NHRA has tried different things in an effort to make it better but just looking at the car counts I think everyone can see a trend right now.
Someone said the reason the car counts are down is because it is so expensive to run this class. Maybe they are right but it hurts to watch this class slowly fading away into time. Jim Hill |
Re: Interesting Commentary on Pro Stock and Factory Stock
Bring back Prostock Truck .It was fun watching a new class evolve like Prostock did in the seventys

Re: Interesting Commentary on Pro Stock and Factory Stock
I really liked Pro Stock when the body shapes and dimensions were very close to production cars.
In the 90's when rules got loosened up and the bodies became more 'cartoonish", I lost interest, especially because of the roof high hood scoops. As far as Factory Stock being the next "Pro Stock", I doubt that will happen.. Pro Mod is more popular than FS so I believe PM will replace PS |

Quote:
NHRA will do whatever the Factory's PAY FOR IT. So that being said it would be up to GM and Mopar. Ford will not pay for anything in DragRacing their $$$$ going to IMSA to the tune somewhere north of $250 million a year for the next 3 years. Like it or not NHRA may have to take the Pro Stock purse to pay for the paid in Top Fuelers and Funny Cars to fill the fields at the National Events. |
Re: Interesting Commentary on Pro Stock and Factory Stock
The last time I enjoyed Pro Stock was back when you could run different motor combos and all the different body styles that were different wheel bases. The 70's were the golden ages of creativity. Pro Stock is during because of the rules no one has a connection to the cars or respect for the cookie cutter motors. Bring back the variety.
