SS/AH cars in TOP/SS factor
As most understand SS/AH cars are treated more like Modified classes in their factoring. This is as recognized allowances have been made on the rules as they compete only against similar cars in class. NHRA actually has rules excluding them from competition outside their class for this reason.
They were not "factored" on the last two times their performance was above the standards of the true SS cars. They were adjusted by index each time for a total of .2 on their index. In the future if they were to compete in TOP/SS they would require significant factoring of hp to add wt to adjust for this index adjustment. A decision on this issue will be made and published here before Indy Open. Thanks Dick Butler |
Re: SS/AH cars in TOP/SS factor
The autos were factored 7 hp a few years ago, along with a tenth on the index.
They got another tenth on the last adjustment. |
Re: SS/AH cars in TOP/SS factor
Thanks Julie, I thought that was it. As we usually know the .2 translates to roughly 200 lb. Seems adding 200 would help with the factoring. Other alternative is to just adopt NHRA stand and not allow them to run in TOP/SS since they are not allowed in other classes due to this method of adjustment having been used instead of HP. That would be a shame as there are 40 some cars out there that could join more heads up racing. Unfortunately only 4 Cuda have joined us so far anyway.
Thanks Dick |
