Motorhome questions...
 
If this isn't the place, let me know, i'll delete...

I am buying my first motorhome and I have found one that I like, I am trying to avoid a toad and reinforcing the rear.

I have found a Winnebago on a freight liner chassis with a 99 model Cummins engine and an allison ..

My question, it is a pusher, I shouldn't have to reinforce anything in the rear due to the engine being back there, and the ride should be good due to it being "beefed up"for the engine..
Is that engine the same in the dodge trucks, I think the 99 models have a great reputation in the diesel world..
Any thoughts appreciated!

A little more data needed...which model Winnebago, length, tag axle, Cummins 5.9 ????? Additionally, how much is it designed to tow (10K?)

My coach is rated to tow 15K but doesn't necessarily mean I'd like to put a stacker behind it so how much are you looking to tow and how much tongue weight approximately? You probably can tow a 24 foot enclosed with no problem but the devil is in the details so please share some more info.

I currently have a 24' enclosed with a 3400lbs door car and a 1200 lbs golf cart. tongue weight is a bit higher due to the golfcart.

The owners manual (page 4-2) states that the maximum towing/hitch pulling capacity, as built, is 5000 pounds with a maximum tongue weight of 500.

It sounds like your trailer setup would overload the motor-home.

I have a 99 Monaco with the 275 Cummins 40 ft. You should be fine the 34 doesn't have as much overhang as mine. I pull a 28' with 3600# car and golf cart, tools etc and have no problems. The 275 can be a little weak pulling in hills but it will get the job done and you'll like the fuel mileage.

Mine is not reinforced but I do periodic checks to make sure everything is ok. I have been thinking of welding some gussets just for extra peace of mind. Its 17 years old so fatigue does worry me a little.

Many times the hitch on the RV's extend back longer than a traditional one even on a pusher. Ours has some very straightforward reinforcement and it looks very striping,mwe pull a 24 foot trailer without a toad. I have seen a few and heard of many more that had the hitch fail if they were not beefed up. The reinforcement looked basic and would not be expensive on a pusher, because the hitch is the only area needing it. Most gasser RVs need a more complex frame reinforcement. I have heard the Ford Chassis RV s are better if you are looking at gassers.

Thank you everyone for your input...
We ended up buying a ford chassis Winnebago brand RV,
we have only pulled once to Beech Bend (and with an open trailer at that)
I believe the frame will get reinforced, (So I can sleep at night:D) and I will also start looking for a trailer toad or something similar...
