No Super Street at Pheonix
Any thoughts on why Super Street was move from the Phoenix national event to the Sonoma national event? Was really looking forward to racing in Phoenix this year as my son lives out that way and he was super excited to go to the race and be there to help out with the race car. Now Super Street is going to be run at 4 national events in a row on the national event circuit.

Re: No Super Street at Pheonix
Since there were only 28 cars at Phoenix I suppose they thought the grass would be greener in Sonoma (pun intended).

Re: No Super Street at Pheonix
They seem to be rotating Super Street to one year at Phoenix and next year Sonoma.
Personally been going to phoenix since 1997 and loved and got the heck out of the cold and snow in the north. |
Re: No Super Street at Pheonix
x3 on visiting Phoenix. I would have lost money betting that they would have run S/ST back there again this year.
Absolutely disgusted with the NHRA National event S/ST schedule for 2017 for the very reason that was previously mentioned (4 events back to back). There certainly wasn't much consideration for the s/st participants when the schedule was created this year. To pour a little more salt in the wound, several of the s/st events are 4 day events (a couple of hits on Thur and a couple of rds on Fri.). It cost you nearly a week of vacation to run a single event. I don't want to bitch too much because I get reminded by others that a) it's still a choice, b) go run another class if you don't like it. But while your mulling over this one, someone please explain to me the reasoning for a graduated winner's purse when S/St compete equal rds at an event. Granted I understand if you go additional rds. But when I race as long and hard as you at an event, why would you receive $300 more to win. Yeah, Yeah, I know, go race somewhere else or another class. Hello, my name is Ray, I'm an addict... |
Re: No Super Street at Pheonix
They rotate between the two places to give S/ST racers within the division a chance to race a national in S/ST since D7 is spread pretty far apart. In my opinion S/ST should be at all National Events like every other class... Of course I am bias.
Personally, Sonoma is a better facility than Phoenix... Anyone who has been to both would understand why. I was always told that if you have nothing nice to say, then don't say it, and that's what I'm going to do. Haha. -Greg Ventura 71 S/ST |

Hey Greg
I can agree to some extent that Sonoma may be a bit nicer than Phoenix but at least in Phoenix I can park without my rig wanting to run away on me. Ray Carlson 6889 S/ST |
