Weld or Billet Specialties?

Have read some things lately about Weld anodizing not holding up well, also I have concerns about Weld Magnum 2.0 fronts devolping cracks. Yet some say Weld is a much better racing wheel than B.S. I have a set of B.S I am considering using.

Look up Sanders racing wheels. Light and cheap in consideration to those that you posted.

X2

Many styles, colors and offsets to choose from with a good balance of light weight and durability.

Cwibeadlock.com.

Website name is a little misleading...they offer other wheels other than beadlock.
Comparable/similar in weight to weld and way way less money.

We have both, Weld's on vins Duster, an I have the Billets on my Cuda, the quality on the Billets is dam good, obviously every has there preference an style. As the other guys said there's definitely some nice ones out there. Also something to think about is what the manufacturers offer in sizes an offsets, that may determine your choice.

Everett,
Anodizing and cracking go hand in hand. Why do you think the major rocker arm mfg's quit it? High end Jesel, T&D and even Yella Terra have dropped it. The process causes minute stress cracks/fractures and eventually they will spread or eventually cause failure. I would go for shine if I wanted strength.

I've had these in the past. Nice wheel and I liked them (certainly not the lightest around though). But apparently today they will not build a rear wheel that isn't a beadlock. Tried to buy some a few months ago, and the "lady" on the other end said they're not building any rear wheels other than beadlocks. I protested and suggested there are a bunch of class racers and other folks out there that could use a regular wheel. She didn't waste much time advising me to "go pound sand and to mind my own business"....L-O-L

Maybe others will have better luck?

I personally had a Weld Magnum 2.0 set of fronts that developed several cracks, and they were polished not anodized. To be fair, they were on the front of our Super Stock car for probably 12 seasons before we experienced any issues.

We replaced them with black anodized Aluma-Star 2.0's or whatever the one-piece units are. No issues in the few years with those so far.

Billet Specialties does build an great looking wheel though as well, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy a set of them based on their quality and appearance.

Re: Weld or Billet Specialties?

Thanks for the responses! I wonder if the cracking issue with the magnum 2.0,s could be from improper torqueing..,or just hard landings ? Anyway I think I will use my B.S. wheels. I have the fronts (street light blacks) the rears I have are 8" wide I guess I need to exchange them for 10" wide. I read somewhere on here a 9X30 radial works better on a 10" wheel than a 8" wheel.
