R5 Dodge Engine for SS Modified

SInce the R5 Dodge Nascar engine has a chevy bolt pattern on the back of the block and crank and the Drag Packs come with a Powerglide, Can I run a Powerglide transmission with that engine? This is for SS/BM-SS/DM

I could use a jeep trans which is a 999 chrysler with a chevy bolt pattern in the 70's

Asking for a friend.

I believe in a modified you can run any auto trans. lots of guys running Chrysler tranny's with ultra bells behind Chevy's.

904 Chrysler or 727 with 904 innerd....Pro Trans for sure. Contact Dave or Darren. IMO, Don't waste your time and money with less. Almost 2 tenths for me from a good aluminum 727.

I run a Pro Trans in SS/FM and it was originally in a Chrysler case.
Changed to GM a few years back when they allowed 3 speeds in lieu
of those which only came with 2 speeds - for SS/NA, SS/MA
Regardless of case, run the Best, a 3 speed Pro Trans.

Herb, Jr
I have run a 904 Proflite in SS/DS. behind a Chevy V-6. I think the Tranny rule in any modified class is pretty open.

The bellhousing pattern in the back of the block is not Chevy, the pattern doesn't match up to any automatic that I know of. ATI, Kowalsky Racing, etc.. make an adapter, or a mid-mount can be fabricated to adapt. Some crankshafts are Chevy pattern, some are Ford, some were altogether different (Penske). You already have a class in mind, but I think with the R5 block layout they would make a killer SS/AS combo.

I am not familiar with the R5. Does it have the standard bore spacing of a small block mopar? I think the standard bore spacing must be retained.
