He was a racer for years-first saw him at Minnesota Dragways-always a strong runner.One by one the old guard leave us.

I've been to his shop a few times. He was a hell of a dedicated racer. R.I.P. Great man.

I had a lengthy conversation with Vern in Topeka a few years back. Both of us were division 5 racers in the 60's and early 70's. I stopped to raise a family and Vern kept going, and going, and going.

What a guy... thought he would be around forever. RIP

So true. Vern was good at getting funding from smaller brewing companies. His early Oly Roller Vegas to my favorite, the Hamms Beer Datsun 280Z he won Indy with. He was always someone to watch for sure!
