Hoosier rear slicks 9.X 30 radials

I know the 92 inch will give more rpm than the 94 inch tires. are they just as consistent. What are benefits and draw back between the 92 and 94. are radials as consistent as bias and which tire last the longest. Overall what do you guys recommend?

Radials will be faster than bias ply, but they are more sensitive to track conditions. In other words, they will spin easier and worse if track conditions aren't good. Naturally, how well your suspension works to begin with is a big factor.

I've also heard that a taller tire will hook better than a shorter tire. Actually puts a bit more rubber on the track. Height is usually selected based on rpm rather than hook.

I've been running Hoosier radials exclusively for many years with great results. Never made a comparison between them and their biased ply for specific ET gain and life expectancy.

Use a rim at least as wide as the tread to allow for higher air pressures and better footprint.

I use the bias and the radial tire. With the bias tires I can 100 plus runs out of them and 80 ish with the radial. There is a lot of tread left but the side wall gives out on me. I do use a small width rim but have not had any problems hooking. Car is pretty consistent in any condtions. The shorter tire did not work with my combination of because of cam, gear and converter but has worked on friends car. You will have to test that. Bias vs Radial would depend on whether you bracket race or stock eliminator cause the radials are faster, the bias work better when track conditions are poor at best.
Good luck.

On my car the Goodyear 4457 were .03 faster than the Hoosier radials when I tested them back to back to back. 200 runs plus is the life I get from the Goodyear 4457. Roll out 92 5/8" on 10" rim with 20 psi. The Goodyear 4457 delivers a great value for the money spent.

Larry, what's the rollout/circumference on the Goodyear 4457 tires?

92.625'' @20.0psi on 10'' wide wheel. Hope this helps. If we are at a race together I will let you try mine if you want. Its the least thing I can do for a Big Name racer. Nine letters, thats a big name in Kentucky, almost gives me writers cramp just typing it.
