340 oil pan in a Duster

Having a hard time finding the right year Dakota oil pan with the rear sump. If you have this info (with a vin would help too) please let me know. None of the junk yards seem to know anything but what's in the book.

Don't think any Dakota pan fits a 340. At least that's what I've been told.

Re: 340 oil pan in a Duster

A friend has one on his G/stock 73 Duster 340, tight fit but works. Was on it when he bought it and previous owner said engine builder put it on. Nobody can tell me what year so just need to know when the 5.2 was in the Dakotas and I'll narrow it down from there.

My old buddy at the Dodge dealership just called and 1999 was the year, so unless I hear something else I'll go with that. Thanks again

when Dodge went to the Magnum small blocks the 5.2 and the 5.9

share the same oil pan so I really doubt a magnum pan will fit....what

I would look for would be a 1991 or earlier Dakota with a 318 that

would be the LA style engine and the same pan as a 340.....tough

find because other than a Shelby, I think the 318 was a 4x4 option

They are getting very difficult to find now. It has now become common to get a later 5.9 360 oil pan and morph the rear seal are from a 318/340 pan.

Remeber you need a hand made drag link too. The stock one wont come close. It depends on how much of a full effort your making before I would worry about the hassle.

PM me for details if you need more information.

Did I miss something? No offense intended but don't you have to run a stock pan unless it is approved by nhra? I have several a-body 318/340 stock oil pans, are they that hard to find?

They're all center sump, Dakota pans are rear sump, stock, like a Chivvy. Horse power baby!
