Help with tire for stick car
Guys I'm needing some recommendations for a tire for my car, it has always had street tires on it. I know this is not a SS question but was hoping for some advice from the experts. I want to get the car down the track and start having some fun with it rather than sitting in the garage.
The car is a 69 fastback Cuda, stock front suspension with cheap 90/10 on it. Rear is ladder bar with panard bar and double adjustable strange coil overs. Motor is an all steel Hemi 550hp with an A833 trans. Don't know the weight but all steel car with a Dana and a Hemi, no rear seat. Car is mini tubbed has 31x12.5 Hossier pro street radials on it now looking for a slick that will work with this setup. Thanks in advance Bob |
Re: Help with tire for stick car
We run Mickey Thompson 3073ST tires.
http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/strip/et-drag/ You will find that racers have a preference of brand that can vary, but the important thing is to get the version designed for a stick that will fit your wheels and your car and gearing. Most will advise running tubes as well. The launch experience is going to be very different. Make sure you check over everything in the drive train. It is going to get tested! Good Luck! |
Re: Help with tire for stick car
I'd get the hardest rubber compound you can get. Hard anymore to get a good stick car Slick. At least in my opinion. Used to we had Firestone F-14's, M&H made a good Slick, and Goodyear offered their slicks all with the D-3 compound. Not anymore.
