How to disable Turbo 400 kick down?
On my street driven 69 Chevelle with a 496 ( plenty of power ) I don't want the kick down functioning.
I've already disconnected the kick down solenoid , now I apparently still have "modulated" kick down function. How can I completely disable the kick down? Thanks in advance. |

Did you try screwing the modulator adjustment in?
Might have to screw it out, then re-work the governor, now that I think about it. Not your normal S/SS question, Joe. |

The modulator and "kick down" function isn't so clear to me.....I wanted to delay the 1-2 shift so I increased modulator tension , to solve that. Now how all this relates to eliminating downshift / kick down......I have no clue. |

Find the 3-2 valve and block it so it won't move. 2-3 should work fine with absence of gov. and mod. pressure for downshifts after slowing. |

Like Mark said just block the 3-2 downshift valve.
Small valve at bottom right of photo . I use a piece of 3/16" brake tubing ,about7/8" long , file it for a final fit . Been doing this for years ,works great . |
