Trailer Floor.....Mill Finish Aluminum Cleaning

Anyone got the "trick lick" on cleaning trailer floors---Mill Finish Aluminum Treadplate or Extruded----Black marks accumulate on that too but it seems to be very tricky to spot clean without leaving a noticable black "smudge"...any suggestions ????

Yah,Rusty

Try the RV-455 you have you will be surprised, then you will have to buy MORE....Spray it on and give it 20-25 seconds and wipe and rinse and see what happens...Then call me...

I just did mine. Get yourself an orbital floor polisher and put the most abrasive pad they have on it. (looks like black Scotch Bright). I used 409 cleaner but Iam sure Simple Green or some other cleaner/de-greaser will work. Run that bad boy on the whole trailer floor, and it looks like new.

I'd go light on the abrasive disc using one of the milder ones. Simple green and wet floor work great. You get a rythm and you can make a nice pattern without gouging the aluminum. THEN when you rinse it out and it is dry and you are satisfied .... Take some Liquid floor wax ( MOP and GLOW)
and spread it on with a rag by hand all over this helps slow the oxidation and marks.
Good luck it takes time and energy but it DOES look like new...

Be caraeful with the use of abrasives on aluminum unless your plan to apply a primer or epoxy paint. The abrasive will remove the annealing and then you will have a corrosion issue with the aluminum. Use the RV-455 and you will be safer.
