Rest In Peace Linda Waldo

It is with heavy hearts that we tell our friends in the racing community that our beloved wife and mother, Linda Waldo, passed away on Friday, February 1st.

Obituary: Linda Gay Waldo passed away on February 1, 2019 at the age of 76 following a four year struggle from two debilitating strokes. She was born on September 13, 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky to Hollie and Kathleen Hawkins. At an early age, her family moved to southern California where she grew up and attended Pacific High School in San Bernardino, California. She worked as a long distance telephone operator and in several secretarial jobs in her early years. Linda and Jim were married on May 16, 1965 and lived in Idaho Falls, Idaho where Jim was employed by Argonne National Laboratory. In 1973 Jim took a job with Westinghouse and they moved to Richland. During their 53 years of marriage they had three children who are all degreed engineers and loyal Cougars. Linda was a stay-at-home mom and devoted most of her life to raising the children, maintaining a happy home, and traveling with the family. She was also an active participant in a family racing team. She traveled to all 50 states, the Caribbean, Panama, and much of Europe. She was a long time member of West Side Church. She is survived by her husband and children and their spouses: Eric Waldo (Sharon), Gary Waldo (Shannon), and Nicole Kangas (Eric). She is also survived by her brother Ron Hawkins, her sister Doris Milloy, her lifelong friend Marilyn Hilder and her four grandchildren: Alayna Waldo, Ty Waldo, Mackenzie Kangas, and Everett Kangas.

Indeed, rest in peace Linda. May the family find peace in knowing that they had a great life together and Linda is no longer suffering.

Prayers to the family and many friends at this time of grief.

We have always held the utmost respect for the entire Waldo Clan! Close-knit families are the by-product of a strong, determined, unselfish maternal presence. Linda was a special lady!
