Factory Showdown
NHRA did it again the second pulley change in 2 races to slowdown the Fords and Copo because the Mopars can't keep up. But that is bull Pritchett has been in the middle of the pack better then most and has the best 60 ft. that shows they are competitive and the other Mopars need to work harder. If DSR didn't have so many teams NHRA would not be doing this they act afraid of him there was no reason to hit them twice in two races. They were close, and half couldn't get off the line. People want to see fast cars in the 7s NHRA works hard to shoot them self in the foot every time something good comes up.

Re: Factory Showdown
I didn't run the numbers myself but I saw someone took the averages of all the qualifying runs split by the 3 brands, but threw out bad passes and this was the numbers they said they came up with:
CJ 7.898@ 175.7mph DP 7.964@ 171.96mph Copo 7.977@ 172.68mph If these are accurate I don't see why the COPO should get slowed down as well. |
Re: Factory Showdown
There going to kill this class as they did Pro Stock what a shame. Just my opinion they gave too much to the fords. They should have waited they were all running pretty close and the Fords would have found something on there own.

Then the problem gets worse because the other 2 manufacturers brought out new cars, cars with changes to specifically compete with what was previously given to Fiat. The important difference being at least they have built new cars. Now it is still worse, with rule changes every race, meant to accommodate the now non competitive Fiats that created this problem in the first place. Seems things were much better 2 years ago when the cars were basically still stockers, not the outlaw cars they have now basically become. |

Re: Factory Showdown
This class is still in the developmental stages. There are going to be adjustments that need to be made. Personally I think NHRA is making the right moves here. If they don't stay on top of it, the participants will lose interest and car counts will drop. Right now the participant numbers are good. Hopefully by mid season there will be more parity and the racers that work the hardest will be the winners.

Re: Factory Showdown
I have been watching the number of DP's, CJ's and COPO's for sale in the last few months. I think a lot of racers have decided they can't afford to go this fast. This class is quickly morphing into a few racers who can go really fast on 9 inch tires.
