Just did this last night... I drain all the water out, refill with green antifreeze, circulate it for 10 to 15 minutes, then drain the antifreeze out. I let it sit with the drains open all winter. Never had an issue. My car is in a garage, but my garage gets pretty cold in the winter.

My engine builder told me not to leave the anti freeze in all winter, fill flush then drain, race gaskets don't like anti freeze

Do you back off the rockers when the car is stored for the winter?

Most race gaskets are made with the same materials as production car gaskets (the exception is copper gaskets). Why would anti-freeze damage gaskets?

I have never backed-off the rockers. I have always drained the radiator and refilled with straight anti freeze, holds 1 1/2 gallons, then run the electric water pump for 5 minutes, then away it goes. Sometimes I would go visit it once a month to turn it over by hand 180*. Don't know if it needs to be done, but at least I got to visit her. Always stays in the trailer at the track, but soon she will be able to stay with me!
