Crate Motor stocker question
I am thinking of building a CM stocker using the 300 HP SBC and an 80 Camaro. My questions are
1.What do you think of this combo 2. What class would it fit into (I have looked at the IHRA site and can't find the info I need) 3. How much would it have to weigh 4. What is the index for the class it fits into I got the engins spec sheet off of the IHRA site and the combo has a deicent cam and if I am not mistaken I can run the dual plane bowtie intake and 4777 Holley I already have. Thank you for any help, Mike |

>> 3. How much would it have to weigh Go to the NHRA Classification Guide at http://www.nhra.com/tech_specs/class...ion/index.html and find the shipping weight of your car. ('80 Camaro, 2Dr Coupe = 3397) Take the shipping weight divided by your crate motor factored horsepower from http://www.ihra.com/competition/crate_motors.html (305hp in your case). That (11.13) will give you the car's natural class. Look that up in the IHRA Rulebook and find the class... K/CM = 11.00 to 11.49. So, you can run J, K or L. Multiply bottom of the class factor times factored horsepower, plus 170lbs for driver. J/CM = 3373 K/CM = 3525 L/CM = 3678 >> 4. What is the index for the class it fits into http://www.ihra.com/statistics/records/index.html Hope this helps. Welcome aboard! |
Re: Crate Motor stocker question
Thank you for the reply, I have been Super racing for quite some time now and would like a change. It looks like the index's are between 12.60 and 12.30 so if I can get it to run 11.50 or so in J I should be OK.
