Fred Thibeault invovled in accident returning home
B/SA racer Fred Thibeault, of Nova Scotia Canada was involved in a major traffic accident this week on his way home from a race. He and his son are very sore but will be alright. Just outside St. Stephen, New Brunswick he was cut off by a dump and put his rig over a 40ft embankment. His motorhome and trailer are complete write offs, the car, his 1969 Camaro, is badly damaged, but rebuildable.

Re: Fred Thibeault invovled in accident returning home
It's a shame bad things happen to nice people and there's no nicer person I've ever met at the track than Fred.I'm sure you'll be back better than ever next year Fred.
This incident brings up an important issue.Last week ,I dont know what possessed me to call, but I called my insurance co.(MetLife) and inquired if my trailer was covered under my insurance.Guess what?Nope.Well for $62 a year I am now covered for liability, comp. and theft with $100 ded.And to think I've been pullig a Gremlin behind me for 30 yrs. without coverage. Also there is no coverage for the car or trailer contents.I have to inquire if my home insurance will cover the trailer contents, and I'm going to look into race car insurance over the winter. With the investments some people have in their setups it pays to look into coverage. Re: Fred Thibeault invovled in accident returning home
Travelling behind Fred & his Son and spending 12 hours along the side of the highway while they towed his trailor and motorhome up out of the 40 ft. embankment really gave us time to think about how quick things can happen. Fred (who has a few sore bones) and his son Scott (who was taken to the hospital for xrays) are both with us today, but from the look of the rigs it is only because someone up above was looking out for them that they are. Although the car is badly damaged the motor and tranny looks ok. It's gonna take a lot of hard work and time to get everything done but at least they are here to do it.
Special thanks to Chris Howes for his help, I know Fred felt alot better knowing his car is safe at your place. Sharon & Bruce, John & Kathy |
Re: Fred Thibeault invovled in accident returning home
I just posted a message, but apparently I made a mistake submitting it. Me and my family hope for a speedy recovery to Fred and his son. My dad considers Fred one of his closest friends and this situation is very upsetting to my whole family and I'm sure the racing community. Anyone who has met Fred and his family are fortunate people. My dad and Fred have been friends since I was a young kid at the races. Now I consider Fred a friend also and one of the best friends anyone can have. Over time you meet people at the races that you become friends with. I consider Fred and his family some of the truist friends one can have at the races and in life. They are people who will give you the shirt off their backs and gladly do it for you at anytime. I have a 14 year old younger brother, Jonathan. His highlight of any race we take him to is to hang out with Fred's children, Nikki and Ryan. This whole incident is sad at best. We call ourselves class racers. Now is the time to help Fred and his family through this time of need. Someone needs to start some form of fund to help the Thibeault Family. Hope both of you have a speedy recovery. We will be in touch and both of you will be on our minds.
