A.O.D. Trans

Could anyone tell me how strong these tranys are say compared to the C4 or what kind of power they can manage. Considering one in a 5.0 mustang to do some brackett racing. Thanks.

My understanding is that they can be built to handle alot of HP, but are heavy and internally inefficient compared to the C-4.

Many put a one-piece input shaft in them because the stock two-piece unit is prone to breakage. You probably know this, but Lentech is the leading Co. that has developed the AOD.

I built one for the street years ago and it was great. I moved to a C-4 for the track and the car picked-up at least a couple of tenths. The unique part of using the trans is the shift pattern. To shift it manually, you have to make the 1-2 shift, then pull the shifter back to 1st...the trans will stay in second gear...then you shift again to make the 2-3 shift.

Thanks Earl I think I'll stick with the C4. That shift pattern wouldn't work to good with a ratchet shifter ah.
