MSD Pro billet distributor replacement for SBC Gear
I'm replacing gear and roll pin on SBC, I was able to pull gear off by hand. Snug but not pressed on is this a pressed on fit to not completely rely on pin for strength ? New gear is on way so can't check new gear fit
thank you |
Re: MSD Pro billet distributor replacement for SBC Gear
Never seen a SBC dist. gear that was pressed on. Snug fit and the roll pin secures it.

X2--but they should not be real sloppy either --kind of a gentle tap with a SMALL rubber mallet to help it slide on--dont BEAT IT ON--just a little harder than hitting it with your fist--some go on real easy and some are "snug" --if need be try a scotchbrite pad to "polish" the shaft --dont go ballistic here

Re: MSD Pro billet distributor replacement for SBC Gear
i.ve seen some manufactures offer .492 " & .500 " id sizes gears for chevs .. check what you have

Re: MSD Pro billet distributor replacement for SBC Gear
also spend a dime and put in a new roll pin and gasket too-- then check your tooth engagement depth and make sure that the distributor has not bottoming out when you tighten the bolt that is too far down

Re: MSD Pro billet distributor replacement for SBC Gear
Not to mention using the correct type of gear for the cam - plain old cast iron, melonized, bronze, composite all have different cam cores they are compatible with.
