Stacking at Indy

Hello All

Hope everyone is well and staying safe.

I have some information for those of you that will be attending Bowling Green and other races the weekend before Indy and then headed straight there. As you have probably seen the Indy facility will not be stacking before Tuesday Sept 1 at 9AM. Due to the pandemic the local government require a permit must be applied for and it be approved for any activity at the track. The permit that was issued will not allow any activities before Tuesday. That has created a big problem for people that will be coming direct from other events such as Bowling Green to have a place to stay until the gate opens. NHRA has been working to find an off-site stacking lot but as of this Morning not found one yet. You will be able to stay at Bowling Green until noon on Monday but that still leaves a day before you can enter the Indy facility. If anyone knows of an area that can accommodate race rigs for a couple of days, please let me know. I will let you know if a place is found or anything changes

Thanks

We called the campground yesterday and they said for large rigs it would be $75 per night and it would be dry camping only.

Exit 95 I-65 North is a Flying J, Speedco oil change, and Blue Beacon wash. We have spent the night there, had full service etc while waiting for Indy to open. Lots of room and an easy stop. DO NOT go park in the south ditch at the track. Made that mistake ONCE. Phish

In My opinion it's well worth the $75. The guy that runs the campground is a State Trooper and a great guy. He saved my bacon a few years ago when I got stuck in the muck at the side of the road. He helped pull out my motor home and trailer. Saved me a $700 tow bill. Needless to say I won't stay at the side of the road again, I'll go straight to the campground.

Back in the day we used to stack and tech in Lafayette square mall (which is pretty well run it's coarse) and is just a thought. I have no idea if it could be accomplished only a thought. In Johnson county there is a park with lots of roads in it, was part of Camp Atterbury. I think it is call Johnson County Park. Again I don't know if these are possibilities or not only thoughts.
