Stocker Build- car choice
Hello all. Been looking at a couple cars for potential stocker build. Both are fairly nice complete cars. One is a 76 feather duster, the other is a 1980 Volare coupe. 360 will be my engine of choice. Any suggestions or opinions? Thanks.

Re: Stocker Build- car choice
The Feather Duster is only in the guide as a Slant 6...so if you're determined to use the 360, the Volare is going to be your choice. The 318 is the better combination in the Volare though as far as where it falls in class and budget constraints.

Re: Stocker Build- car choice
Just claim the Feather Duster as a Regular Duster
The lightweight parts will probably be fine and unnoticed We run a 318 4 Brl. and it is easy and affordable. My son has set records with it and went to the Allstars with it. However, you would need to run Aspen or Volare for that combo and a lot of the lower HP 360 as well! |

I see a 318 option for a standard duster. Is this not a 4 barrel engine?

Re: Stocker Build- car choice
I have turn key 1980 Volare I/SA with a 360, 16K buys it.
It's a .50-.60 under car. Has been .90 under. Finished #2 in the world last year. A complete car will be cheaper than building. |
Re: Stocker Build- car choice
Your best bet would be buying one of GTX John's proven cars!

Re: Stocker Build- car choice
If your going to build one chose the one with the most flexibility. 1970 E body can use a six cylinder up to the 426 hemi.
It’s way cheaper to buy a car flying than to make one fly and buy it at the track. |
