disk brakes on a 68 camaro
 
our 68 camaro has drum brakes, a friend has complete disks , etc off a 70 camaro.

What would be involved in changing they over?

and could i with out changing the spindles ?

I'm not sure but I think you might just get by with having to change the steering arms and it might line up---I think Gen !! camaros went to an entirely different style --they do use a different caliper for sure---Might try a Camaro website I'm sure lots of these have been done---comp 387

look at a website called inlinetube.com/Articles/outofproportion---this article explains and shows pictures of the different components in a disc brake system--sounds like the author really knows what he is talking about--also check Ebay periodically there are complete kits for sale at very reasonable prices alreadt scienced out so you don't go nuts trying to make it all work---Comp 387

I know that the spindle is different.

No the spindals are different however the discs fro a 68-72 chevelle or 70-72 monte carlo will fit.Let me give you another option I'm using on my 68 camaro that currently has drum brakes on all 4 corners. There is a company called Praise Dyno Brakes out of Texas, they can sell you new kevlar shoes and oversize wheel cylinders and spring kits that are a direct bolt in with no modifications. I can hold the car fine at the line and stop it just as well. Their claim to fame is they can give you the same performance of disc brakes while still retaining your drum brakes. I'm here to say that it works.

NOPE......It wont fit. As said earlier 68-72 GM A body spindles and hardware are the ticket. Use you old drum steering arms and its a simple bolt in. I second the Praise drum brakes. Stops me from over 130 mph better than factory disc.
