Live from Maple Grove -LODRS-Part two
Good morning - Yes, we're back at the Grove and I'll beat most of you to the punch saying it's the rain capital of the Lucas Oil Series but I'm still glad to be back at my 'home' track .
The Frank Hawley school has the place rented all week so there will be no test n tune this time around and that leaves us with not much to do but stand around and tell stories and lies . Plenty of parking available so come on over ……. |
Re: Live from Maple Grove -LODRS-Part two
Good morning - In half an hour we're to start but short of a miracle it won't happen as the skies opened up most of the night and to say the track is soaked would be an understatement . I'll need galoshes to get my trailer opened ........Later.

Re: Live from Maple Grove -LODRS-Part two
9:30 Update -They have been working on the track and expect to be racing in an hour or two with plenty of equipment out there working hard .
Just read that Rich Fetch has been in the hospital for the last week with the Covid - his message to those who haven't got the VAX -Get it ASAP before its too late . |
Re: Live from Maple Grove -LODRS-Part two
JD's and Stock got their first and only qualifier .So in three or four hours we'll have round one .It sure ain't fast here and I could tell you it won't rain but the sky won't agree as it looks awful .I'll try and get some sheets.....

Re: Live from Maple Grove -LODRS-Part two
After sitting most of the afternoon and early evening Stock got to run its first round - not great weather but the track was really good .Extremely low car count as I can't remember ever seeing Stock at Maple Grove with only 52 cars - yuk ! !
We're out again early in the AM . Congrats to Todd Hoven on his # 1 qualifier in the Carp Hemi car .And up until a few minutes before round one he had an earned bye - then someone got tossed and evened the field . |

Just saw that Bruce Noland is on the Stock Q-list with his '69 Firebird. If anyone has a decent pic, PLEASE post it.
Thanks ! https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r=100#indextop Some may wonder why I'd want a pic of a '69 Bird. (1) I only know of 1 other active '69 Bird Stocker, which is driven by John Schloe. (2) It's suppose to be decked out in Trans Am trim. If so, it'll definitely be a one-of-a-kind Stocker. (3) It's supposed to have the RAIV engine. If so, it'll be the only Stocker I know of which is currently running that engine. (4) And hey, it's a new Pontiac powered Stocker. There have not been many of those, in recent years. |

Thanks ! Not sure if these are "decent pix" of the 1969 Firebird you mention, but these two are all that I found on my camera. |

"...Not sure if these are "decent pix" of the 1969 Firebird you mention..."
Yeah, those are great, especially the 2nd one ! THANKS a bunch ! I really appreciate it ! :) I have now seen a pic of ONE '69 T/A Stocker, in my lifetime. It occurred to me that some non-Pontiac guys may not know hardly anything about the '69 T/A. You can Google up lots of info & pics about the car. Here's one article about the 1st one built, including quite a few pics. https://www.motortrend.com/features/...rans-ever-made |
