Santangelo was the only person that could catch him and he did not enter in SS at Vegas.

That has always been a very nice family !

They are from the Shreveport area, less than 100 miles from me. Back in the '70's, we made a few Stock races at the Hallsville TX track, where they raced some. TJ even won a race one week, when they were gone to a div points race. :)

Greg's Dad, Howard, was a real nice guy. He never failed to come by our pit, say hi, & ask how our cars were running, even after we started running bracket.

I think Mr. Howard was still driving back then. Greg may have already started driving some. We can't remember, for sure. That was a long time ago. But, we still remember Howard Stanfield & how nice & friendly he was. :)

Harold beat Wes Leopold Sr in the final round at the Summernationals / Englishtown and I remember him being one the nicest gentleman I had met in racing.
Obviously the apples did not fall far from the tree, congratulations to the Stanfield family!
