Valve lash
 
I bought an lt1 stocker engine and it seams like the valve lash is .005” is this normal thanks

You really need to find out who the cam grinder is and talk to them. That being said there are some very tight lash cams that have been produced for a very long time now. 50 + years ago I had a cam that called for 0.010" on the intake Hot.

You can talk to your cam manufacturer and ask plus you can play with it a little. I used .005 with my LT1 when I was running shimmed lifters and it really liked it. Coincidentally, I run exactly the same lash with my solid rollers now and same camshaft.

We must have shimmed the **** out of the old lifters. :eek:

First thing you need to do so is, if the mystery engine builder can't tell you, if it's indeed solid lifter. If it is, 5 th o u sounds about right. You need some Lash but don't want to give up much lift if you can help it.
