Wilwood Brake Corvette Front

Hi,
I'm in the process of changing the front discs on a 74 Corvette Bracket car from stock to a Wilwood setup. The upper bracket mount bolts to the stock spindle with a 11/16-16 Torx bolt (supplied from Wilwood). The bolt is 1 1/2 in long and needs to be torqued to 140ft-lbs. The problem is that when the bolt is spaced as per directions, there are 3 threads making contact in the hole. Not nearly enough for 140 ft-lbs!!
I'm waiting for Wilwood to return my call (hopefully they have a 2 or 2 1/4in bolt!).
In the meantime, anybody run into this and how did you handle it? Did you find a longer bolt? Where? (Grainger, etc don't have any that big).

Thanks in advance,
walt z.

Walt,
Do you have the part number of the kit or a picture of the brakes assembled from the instructions? It would help us help you. I see what you mean 11/16-16 bolts are almost impossible to find online. Ray

Wilwood 140-12040 Brake kit for 69-82 Corvette Front. #6 on the blow-up pic. McMaster-Carr has bolts that are close (hex-head 3/4-16), but would need to drill and thread the hole. A bit much for a 'Bolt-in' kit!

Walt does the threaded hole for #6 go all the way through the spindle? If it does I think I would go down to a 5/8" bolt with a nut on the backside of the spindle
If the thread does not go all the way thru you may need a 3/4" "bottoming tap" to get enough threads in that short a distance. Ray

Its a 'blind' hole. I haven't measured the hole, but looks like it is about 3/4in deep. As I might have mentioned, I'm talking to Wilwood to get a longer bolt. They have bolt 'kits' and one for the 63-64 Corvette (drum brakes) seems to have a longer bolt, just looking at the pics. That kit is about $95.00, so I'd like to be sure before pulling the trigger on that!! 3 threads is pretty sketchy even if I got it to tighten up! Monday may bring some relief.

Walt, do you want to sell the OEM front disc brakes off the 74 Corvette?
