Helmet art, show'm off!
After seeing the "Disco Nova" helmet art I'm wondering who else has some arted up head gear? I managed an auto paint store back in the late 80's and the local pin striper extraordinaire (Pioneer signs in Flatrock, Mi.) did an awesome spiderweb design on the entire thing it was silver on black.......but I don't have any photos of it and back then I was doing 25 - 30 demolition derbies and figure 8 racing every summer so it didn't look good enough long enough to get a picture of it.

My wife added a small amount of art to her helmet, back in the '80's.
The name of her car was "Born Again". The butterfly is a symbol of new life. So, along with her initials, "TJ", which is what everybody has called her, for most of her life, she also put a butterfly on her helmet. In pic #2, you can see that she also put a small butterfly beside the car name. And in pic #3, she also put a small butterfly beside the scripture verse, on the trunk lid, which represents the "New Life" one can experience after being "Born Again". Hey, this is a great time to post this, right before we celebrate the birth of the Savior ! :) |

This is probably the best Christmas present I ever recieved. About 20 years ago or so, my wife conspired with my good friend Tim, who worked for NASCAR team Sabco-Ganassi, to get and personalize a new Simpson Helmet. Tim got the new Helmet and worked with their team paint man to do the current (back then it was current) Team Mopar paint scheme. I open the gift on Christmas morning and was blown away!. Super cool!... Until I went to put it on. Somewhere along the line there was a miscommunication. I wear a 7 5/8 and the Helmet was 7 3/8. A tight squeeze. It all worked out after changing some cheek pads and all was well. But a moment of panic on that wonderful Christmas morning! I only wish it was still legal to use.

Re: Helmet art, show'm off!
Good morning Ken,
Merry Christmas to you and your Family. How do I go about posting some pictures of some of my past racing helmets. These would be on my phone and I'd like to get them on here. I'm also thinking some of our fellow Class Racers might like to know how as well. Being somewhat of a dinosaur, I'm not as handy with the computer as I':)m handy with a Q-Jet. Thank you in advance. Respectfully, Henry Kunz 1534 H/SA |

upload your pictures there. On the right side of your picture at IMGUR click the "copy" button next to "BB code" then just simply right click here as your posting and click paste, that will copy the picture in when you post. Hope this helps. |

Re: Helmet art, show'm off!
There seems to be a shortage of helmets to fit us pumpkin headed people, 2X and up.
