How to Ahfs. Work. At National Events
In Stock and Super Stock
Allow 80 entries and the fastest 65 make the field Makes it exciting. Grade points To earn a grade point for National Events You have to win around for it to count to enter first.. Preferred Entry This way if chasing points you can get in Then go to grade points to fill field |

I'm in James ... I said the same thing in a email to powers that be at nhra , when the lowering of the index by one tenth was going around . I got , good idea but if its not broke not fit it { its your idea not are's }. This should also incease the pay out too.

Re: How to Ahfs. Work. At National Events
Maybe my opinion is biased, as I have never qualified in the top 1/2 of the field, but I think all this would accomplish is to discourage the lower dollar racers, or those who enjoy doing all of the own work rather than having the luxury of writing big checks for the "best of everything" big name pieces, and make Stock & SS less appealing for new potential racers to want to get into the game. I find it interesting that some of the "fast guys" in the higher classed cars, are often the same folks complaining about "underfactored" Dime Rocket or undiscovered obscure combinations, that were in the NHRA classification guide, often for decades, before some enterprising racer discovered them, even though these combos may have been real packages that sold in high numbers or actual production vehicles. Especially interesting since many of these "fast guys" are running newer combos that were never factory produced for sale and available for the general public. Often these are also the same people complaining about lack of "new blood", low car counts, and dismal payouts.

I support a qualified field at National Events with the entry quota being 10-25% higher than the qualified field number. But I get your point, Stock and Super Stock shouldn't be just be about who can spend the most to run fast. Perhaps there are other ways to make a qualified field more equitable, like if your in the top 10 in division points during the current or previous year, then you get an automatic spot in the qualified field at National events located within your division. That would give racers two ways to get into a National Event, either be fast or be a winning driver. Most racers that are top ten in their division would be able to qualify at a National Event, the number of racers that would get in due to being a winning divisional racer in a slower car would probably be less than ten. If someone is both slow and uncompetitive, maybe they don't belong at a National Event. Just because they entered a lot of division races and got 8 grade points should not provide an automatic spot in the field at a National event. National Events should showcase the best and fastest drivers period. |

This is the dumbest thing I have read on this sight in a while. So why you are saying that no one new should build a car or try and enter the class because they are not worthy of being at a national event. This will be my fourth year racing and I have done well at a couple races but have not won one yet. I run a slow car and can only go 3 to 4 under at this time but I' working on it. By this logic also we should not even race just let the number one qualifier get the trophy and money and we all can go home. Gainesville has the space to allow more care and not sure why they do not increase the quota. Look at Pomona it has 70 and at six grading points still has not filled up. Arizona still not full at seven grading points. |

"So why you are saying that no one new should build a car or try and enter the class because they are not worthy of being at a national event.".......Never said or implied that. At our first event in 1983 you had to qualify for the field.
"This will be my fourth year racing and I have done well at a couple races but have not won one yet. I run a slow car and can only go 3 to 4 under at this time but I' working on it." No one is stopping you from going to division races, getting better and faster. Not a hard concept to grasp, just doesn't suit your needs. "By this logic also we should not even race just let the number one qualifier get the trophy and money and we all can go home. "..........Again, never said or implied that, matter of fact I think that's its pretty stupid you would suggest I said that in concept. "Gainesville has the space to allow more care and not sure why they do not increase the quota. Look at Pomona it has 70 and at six grading points still has not filled up. Arizona still not full at seven grading points". .........Agree, plenty of pit spaces at the Nationals I go to, I never said or never implied the quota number or qualified entries shouldn't be increased Maybe if you didn't treat ideas that are different from your own as dumb, and listened to people that have been in stock for over 35 years you might learn how to go faster and win more rounds. |

Never said I did not listen to different ideas and I have a lot of people that are helping me and the car is going faster I just don't have unlimited budget and work within my means. Also it is not about being the fastest as long as I can run under the index. If I remember correctly you had 128 car fields back in the day and if you won class you were part of the field even if you did not make the top 128. I don't know who you are but where do you qualify in the current fields and what division are you running? |

This troll reminds me of the guy who posted (until maybe 6-8 months ago?) and just tried to stir things up. I can't remember his username, he didn't use his real name, either.
Maybe he got bounced and is back with a different i.d.? There was "Bubski", but I'm thinking of someone else. CRS! |
