C11 and C12 in fuel check
 

We have occasionally had problems with C11 passing fuel check. Thinking of switching to C12. Is C12 better for passing fuel check? What are your experiences?

Marty,
the only problems I have had with C-11 is if I leave in the cell or a plastic fuel jug...
I have kept stored in barrel or VP can for up to 2 years no problem, but fuel left in cell or plastic jug,just one week between races won't pass

My C12 has never failed (usually buy by the pail and unsealed pails are kept in temperature controlled garage). C11 fails in the past likely linked to conditions referenced by Mike.

There again fuel check is as good as the guy doing the checking no disrespect in anyway, ,those guys are out in the heat just like everybody else. If you fail ask if you can get another sample be polite and ask if its low and by how much. I had a number of the guy from Vp to call if there is a problem. More to come later Tom

Ditto on storing C 11 only in Metal sealed containers. No issues once I switched from Plastic.

Don`t know how much heat, humidity, etc effects the sample, but I have had C12 from a 2 year old drum pass no problem, yet several years ago, I bought 10 gallons of C12 from the VP truck at Seattle, and the following weekend, at fuel check at Sonoma, the guy doing the testing, said that the fuel I had bought one week prior, was borderline. I have to think the drums of fuel taken to the National Events, should be pretty fresh. Go figure.

I have never had C-12 fail fuel check even if it was left in the cell for several months. I did run C-11 for a time but didnt have a good source for it. I also tried Sunoco but always seemed to have difficulties at fuel check with the Sunoco Blue fuel. I didn't see any difference between C-12 and C-11 except in my wallet.

Marty: We've never had a problem with C-12 in fuel check. We've been purchasing it in 5-gallon cans for several years directly from a VP dealer.

I have bought C11 in a 5 gallon can and have been bounced
a couple times the next week. The C12 - never an issue!

Marty my brother have had problems with C11. When we fail fuel check we went back to pits and dumped fuel and replaced with fresh C11 only to fail again. Tech guy asked, "did you replace the fuel cell foam".....uh no we didn't. Go back dump the fuel and remove the fuel cell foam and then we passed.
We permanently switched to C12 only to pass fuel check. Since then we have used C12 in pails and C12 from underground tank with no failures.
