RIP Lynn Balek

"On the 8th Day God Created the HEMI"

It is with a heavy heart that I share with you the passing of my long time best friend and engine builder Lynn Balek of Mason City, IA
He passed away at home last Friday, May 27, 2022.
Lynn Balek was a man of integrity and profound beliefs, it has been my privilege to know him for 36 years as a friend and racing companion, his presence, wit and knowledge will be sorely missed among our racing community.
Rest in peace in HEMI heaven my dear friend.

Rick Johnson

The Mopar racing community lost a very knowledgeable and dedicated man. He was a truly “Mopar or no car” guy. RIP buddy! 😞

Always a great time when you went up to Lynn's shop. I'm 54 and have been going to his shop since I was a young kid.

Picture attached is a photo of two things I have at my home that always makes me think of Lynn when I walk by.

The Big Red bottle was given to me by Lynn when I was putting together the 64 Plymouth that was the original "Big Red" car out of Virginia. The second is a coffee cup I bought from Lynn when I had Butch Leal's California Flash Modified Production Duster. I had to buy a set of Stahl headers that came off his original 65 car to get the cup(still have those old headers too).

Lynn always kidded me that I paid $900 for the direct connection coffee cup. It was and still is well worth it. Makes me smile every time I walk by.

You always could get the latest SS/AH racing news from Lynn too.

The best part of spending time with him were the great racing stories from the years past with his 65 "Satisfaction" Hemi Dodge. Somebody should have wrote that stuff all down.

Have fun up in Hemi Heaven.
