Any valve job????
This may be an incredibly stupid question, for which I have a lot of expertise................but does this mean that we no longer have to use the 45 degree seat angle?

Re: Any valve job????
That is the way I read it.....anything goes.
Margin rules and all. This is nearly the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. Kinda turns those virgin cylinder heads we've been hoarding for 20+ years into scrap metal, huh? |

Re: Any valve job????
I may be wrong, but isn't this how the out of control SS heads started that drove many out of the class?

The good news is; all those heads you thought were junk, are now good again. My castings were never worth anything to begin with.

Re: Any valve job????
2008 rule book came today. ... Altho the rule now states any valve job is acceptable, further reading shows that the stock valve seat angle must be retained. ........The old example picture of an acceptable valve job is gone from the book. .....The .250" bottom cut depth is measured from below the seat angle instead of the top, as the old diagram specified. .........Still gives a lot of room for a "liberal interpetation" of the rule ....Tom

Re: Any valve job????
Hey Tom! Get to work on those AMC heads! I want to see some 10 second E.T.'s from that AMX. Love those Kelvenators!

Re: Any valve job????
John, Now that I finished Jack's GTO, I can finally work on the AMX. ........ I was actually in the 10.80's quite a few times this year, but the runs are taking their toll on the stock AMC rear. .... The only axles available are stock spline, and I've twisted them up pretty badly this year. ....... Looks like an 8 3/4 or a Dana has to go in before anything else............... Tom
