Hopefully it can hang on for a few more years, I’m just finishing a new stocker and I sure would like to make another pass in competition at what I consider my home track.

With all the industry they've chased out of the state there must be lots of available land for another ghetto rather than getting rid of the dragstrip which has been running since 1950;

Raceway Park in Blue Island was a Chicogaland circle track. Closed around 04 and was sold to a developer. They built a strip mall and named it Raceway Center. The mall has been closed and boarded up for years. Making zero income. What a waste.

One person in the loop stated ; every model for changes at the Fairgrounds included drag racing. 👍

I spoke with a person on the fair board in April. I told him I heard rumors that redevelopment of the fairplex could close the drag strip. He said the board understands the history of the track, benefit to the local economy and he didn't think there was any chance of the drag strip closing.
