battery ?
 

I need a group 24 battery. might consider a boat battery, as they are $50 bucks cheaper. just need a battery for 2 races.
Wally World has a cranking boat battery, with 930 marine amps [really, are amps on the water different?] for $100 or a 750 amp deep cycle for $90. a std. Gp24 is $150!!!!!

I have been using a group 26 wally world Value bat with 550 C Amps
Works fine with FI fuel pump elect fan and WP Computers, etc. A 11lb bat didn't work but the 450 - 550 CA works fine. I charge after every run.

I use Walmart 26 in my Stocker.
One in the front and one in the back.

I have been a loyal Optima Redtop guy for years.
However I just bought the 2nd one in 5 years for one of our cars.
I cant justify the cost if thats going to be the typical lifespan.
I know there are some cheaper AGM,s out there. Anyone tried the Autozone AGM?
Or is it just best to buy the cheapest battery I can find?

I have gotten good service, and fast warranty replacement when needed, from O'Reilly's AGM batteries.

When I got the Volare' in 2010 it had two Odyssey 1200 AGM's in it. I replaced them in 2021. They are the best bang for your 12V racing buck (not cheap) there is I think. The trick is keep a Deltran trickle charger on them. Jim

I'm with Jim, the Odyssey batteries are the best I have used. The current one in my car I bought in 2017. About a year after putting it in I left the main power on for 5 days and my dial board and misc. led dash lights ran it down to 6 volts. I followed Odyssey's directions to save a dead battery and it's still going strong.



I do have a Battery Tender on it 24-7 when not racing. Other than that 5 days obviously. LOL Also I run an alternator and never charge at the track. I have made 11-13 passes in one day without charging on numerous occasions at our double points races.
