Ted Struse RIP

Got the sad news today that my friend and fellow 440 6-Pack racer Ted Struse has passed away. Ted was part of the very well known and popular "Project Six-Pack" magazine project car. I got to know Ted when he asked me to help with the Roadrunner when he moved to Colorado. Ted's passion for our sport was as intense and long lasting as anyone I know. I have so many fond memories, Rest In Peace my friend.

Sad news indeed. Project Six-Pack was one of my favorite magazine cars. Lace painting and all. Learned lots about mopar six pack needs and how to make them run.

R.I.P. Ted. Big part of a great team.

Re: Ted Struse RIP

I knew Ted. He was my neighbor when we both lived in Philadelphia. I knew nothing about cars then, let alone race cars.
I met him when he started racing the A12 'Runner (about '72). He had bought it new, after seeing it in the back of the dealer's lot. The sight and sound of a real race car (It had lettering, graphics, and it was loud!) turned this 13 year old into a Stock Eliminator fan for life.
Even though he was 14 years older than me, he always had time for me and other neighborhood kids. He didn't have to deal with us kids, but he did. One kid, whose father had passed away even got his name on the fender!
I could go on and on. He was 1900 miles away, but we stayed close. My wife and I were just out to see him In August.
He had Parkinson's Disease for over 30 years. He was always proactive and positive about it, but it finally caught up to him. RIP, my friend.

I asked Ted's wife if there's any place that people could make donations in Ted's memory.

She asked if there are any organizations that support drag racers and/or their families that need help.
I mentioned DRAW to her. Are there any others?
http://www.drawfasthelp.org/

She's going to get back to me with any others that she thinks of.
