70's ERA SS car now running Stock?
Question to those of you that may have first hand knowledge.
Can a 70's era car with mini tubs compete in Stock today with these modified tubs. Rule book mentions the leading and trailing edges can be trimmed 2" max, but doesn't directly answer this question. The car has the rear springs back in the standard location, with the standard longitudinals in place. Just the mini tubs remain. I probably will have to call Division Tech but thought I would ask here first. |

No.
Lots of cars would have the tire hit the inner wheel well before hitting the springs. No way to tell with tubs. Only thing "allowed' is the use of a BFH..(Ford tool) |

I think there might be some out there, it's up to the DD to decide if it's acceptable.

OYRR,
There is no tech ! Sounds like you don't want to fix it anyway, so just worry about it if someone says something. Wait..You already told hundreds of racers about it...Disregard first sentence. |
Re: 70's ERA SS car now running Stock?
You must consider those 2 portions of the rulebook before moving forward…
Stock cars rules are so clear and easily interpretable… In the section 11A, page 10 WHEELS…Any wheel/tire combination may be used that does not require alterations to wheelwells. In the section 11A, page 10 BODY…Alterations or customizing prohibited; extent of customizing is limited to paint only. |

Thanks for the replies.
Actually one car was repaired some time ago. Have one remaining car to deal with. |

I have to agree with you, there seems to be no tech based on what I have seen. No where near what it used to be in the 60's and 70's. |
