Cam Question
Hey There
I'm currently putting a combo together that is pretty much a "clean out the shop build. I have a cam, but its got me a little worried and i would like everyone opinion. First some info on the combo. 1966 Chevy II 3000lbs +- 10.5x28 slick or a radial of similar size 5.14 gear and a Glide with a 5K converter and Brake SBC 363ci 4.030 x 3 9/16 13.8 CR 6.0" steel rod AFR 1103 heads Ported super Victor intake HP 950 carb Ok now the problem. the cam I have laying around is a Crane TR260/4167-2-4. Its actually listed as a circle track cam. Besides that fact, it seems like it may be a little small for the combo. specs....260/270 @ .050 on a 104LC .625 lift with a 1.5 rocker What makes it a "circle track" cam, and does that automatically make it bad for drag racing? Any help or other cam recommendations would be much appreciated. Chuck |
Re: Cam Question
Give it a try with a 1.6 or 1.65 ratio rocker if you have the clearance. Decent cam for midrange torque with a P/G.

Re: Cam Question
The circle track cams have a closer lobe center.
Often the same cam lobe. At least in our small block Mopars! |
