Aftermarket heads in SS

I see NHRA is allowing RHS,Dart, and World Products heads on the 327 combo's now (rated at at higher HP 304 instead of 299). My question is if their going to do this for the 327 why not the 283 also. Are 327 cores that hard to find?

Yes they are that hardto find. They have been race motors since day of creation unlike the 283.

The premise they are using for their acceptance is the poor quality of the old castings, which it is questionable since you can replace seats when they are recessed. One claim is old castings are difficult to repair and weld too.

Best yet would be one set of heads replace ALL small block heads. Same cc, and ports. Cuts cost to by replacements and only one set of specs to inforce. (could use one casting with appropriate ccs etc) for car.
If all can run one 3 speed trans what is the difference of same heads for all. It makes it simpler to tech too.
