Single Runs - 2023 To 2024 NHRA Rule Amendment
Just noticed on the 2023 To 2024 NHRA Rule Amendments the addition of the following language:
SECTION 2: RACE PROCEDURES, SINGLE RUNS (Page 8) (11/29/2023) In situations where a driver is making a single run, he or she is considered the winner once he or she stages and receives the start signal or is declared the winner by the official starter. If a competitor crosses the boundary line on a single run, the elapsed time is voided for lane-choice determination. Drivers who run under elapsed time barriers outlined in their category are disqualified even if on a single run. My interpretation is that if you are in a single run, you cannot run under the index any longer?   |

To me, this is for Top Dragster/Top Sportsman cars who run quicker than 6.00 on a single and would be DQ’d from the event. |

Agree with Tony, some might wonder though if chassis certification level could also be considered a “barrier”. Probably not for parachute, Hans, etc but if a FS car ran quicker than 7.50 on a bye could their competitor(s) protest if they weren’t DQ’d?

Not sure if that also means if you run in the 9's as in for example a A/SA and don't have the safety equipment to be in the 9's. Just a thought.

Standard safety-related rules would still be in effect on a single as they would be in any other qualification or elimination round. |

Re: Single Runs - 2023 To 2024 NHRA Rule Amendment
Would the 9.99 number for the NHRA license be considered a barrier?
If a driver ran under the 9.99 would the run be disqualified or the driver for the event? |
Re: Single Runs - 2023 To 2024 NHRA Rule Amendment
I think so ----Wasnt Bo buttner disqualified a while back on a run that was under a "certain" ET because the car was not certified to go in that ET range. ??? FED 387

Re: Single Runs - 2023 To 2024 NHRA Rule Amendment
So, does this apply to all the Super categories also? I.E. if you run under you class index,(10.90, 9.90, 8.90) on a single, you're disqualified? I always thought on a single pass you could run it out the back door and use it as a time trial. Am I miss understanding this new rule?
