Head & Neck Restraint Rule

Can anyone assist in interpreting this rule. It states if your vehicle runs 150+, which mine does, off the stop. However on the stop I am 144ish, so do I need to wear one?

No. How would anyone know what it is otherwise capable of?

Nope, I would not! This is a pia!
If your not over 150 at an nhra race then it’s not needed

I wore one last year for the first time and was really surprised that I didn't notice anything different when in the car, really. The pre- and post-run routines definitely needed some tweaks.

I had a couple Necksgens sitting around from recent junior dragster graduates. I'm sure I would feel differently if I needed to buy all of it!

I've been wearing one since '08 both in my S/G car and my T/S car. Not a big deal at all. With the sliding tethers they all have now, you can turn your head. Those foam neck collars aren't going to do ***** for you in a wreck.

Being opposed to mandates, this HANS thing sticks in my craw.. however, it is a safety issue, and I'm a huge fan of safety.. I was required to wear one in Comp some years back, as the car was going over 200 mph.. the only difficulty was learning how to get it off without help at the top end.. LOL!!.. while I have all of the necessary equipment, I'm not sure if these devices should be mandated..

I believe that they should remain optional to the individual.. BUT, we should all keep in mind that an accident at 60 miles per hour can be devastating, and some times fatal, at 150 mph, we need all the help we can get..

I have recently been at a race where there were many complaints about not being able to turn your head in the Super classes, which may or may not have caused round loses.. and there were also many complaints about the affect of the wind in open cars when wearing a head sock without a neck collar.. not being a driver at this particular race, I can't comment on the head turning issue, but the wind affect seems to be remedied by using a helmet skirt.. I'm having one installed as we speak..

As far as the head turning thing, y'all know that I'm a dialer, and don't look around much being a "Stripe Wh**e".. ain't that right Tom Goldman??

I've been wearing a Necks Gen Rev for the last two years and don't even notice it any more ,except when I forget to release the tethers pulling off my helmet once and awhile.
Being a "Senior Gas" racer I want to be around long enough to be a pain for the young 'uns .
Personally ,the rule makes a lot more sense than a lot of their others

Once I read the differences between the neck collar that does nothing and the Hans type restraint. I was convinced two years ago to get one. It only took a few passes to be able to get everything off on my drive back on the return road.

My routine has actually been to leave the Necksgen connected to my helmet at all times. So far it has seemed to simplify the process.
