Re: NHRA Reveals Plans For IRP
I read the post the other day and it sounds good to me, however I look forward to the knowledgeable, experienced feedback from the frequent U.S National contestants.

Re: NHRA Reveals Plans For IRP
From what I read it looks like the sportsman will be "enhanced" to the east side. We'll see.

Re: NHRA Reveals Plans For IRP
If you look at the picture of the new track there are numerous locations with the number 5 on them. I would guess that is for the Sportsmen racers. Some Sportsmen categories already pit on the Pro side( Comp, Alcohol, etc. Looks to be a lot of paved area on the west side. All the way to the north property line. Room for everyone.

Re: NHRA Reveals Plans For IRP
If they wanted to include enhancements in the facilities for the RACERS in mind that would be better for the sport.

"The new Wally Parks Tower is set to be completed in time for the 2025 NHRA U.S. Nationals"
Does anyone know what the plan is for the 2024 NHRA U.S. Nationals? Isn't the old tower gone? Bill |
Re: NHRA Reveals Plans For IRP
The old tower is gone. We were there last weekend for a bracket race and they are using a Connex Box for the tower now. Pretty sad that Indy is the showcase for drag racing and the powers at be are not smart enough to have plans and funding ready to go as soon as the tower was torn down over the winter to start the new one.

Re: NHRA Reveals Plans For IRP
Incredibly poor planning to conduct "the worlds biggest drag race and showcase event" without a proper tower facility. Great look for corporate sponsors looking at our sport. I've tried to see the brighter side of some of NHRA's decisions the last 15 yrs or so but ..!
Sad state of affairs, the pinnacle, the meca, the epicentre of it all, Indy Nat'ls becoming more like carnival and less of what it used to be. As WJ once stated " the circus has come to town." |
