I received a call from J C Slaton yesterday that his dad Gary Slaton had passed. He was my close friend and racing partner for the last 25 years. He battled COPD and congestive heart failure for several years. I miss him more than i can express...

I feel your pain Pete. I met Gary a few years after the fuel injected Firebirds and Camaro stockers arrived. He Loved racing. GODSPEED !!!

Gary was a great guy and absolutely loved everything about racing. Terry Emmons has some great pics of Gary that he made into memes. Anyone that knows Gary well would get a good chuckle out of them because it reflected a lot of his fun personality.

I hope Terry can post some of them.

Pete you are so right..Gary was a great guy. Became friends with him when I was going to the IHRA races. It is truly a Sad Day... in Div 4 and our world. Prayers from the Smith's.

Sad day to hear this news, Pete. Having only known Gary for a few years, he was always a great guy to be around and he LOVED his drag racing.

Sorry to read about Gary's passing he had a wealth of knowledge about efi cars in early 2000 he helped me alot I belive he drove back then. Condolences to all his family and friends. RIP Gary
