Insulation
I haver a 32 X 12 Portable metal building I want to finish out the inside.
Will be for storage and messing with my Brass and Bullets. Studs are 24" centers and are full studs. Would you use foil backed styrofoam or have it spray foamed as a barrier between the metal and inside panels? Should there be a moisture barrier installed with either insulation? Is one way cheaper than the other? I do realize the foam is way less labor intensive for me... BTY this is in SW Arkansas near the Ar/Tex border... Heat is more of an issue here than cold... |
Re: Insulation
Personally, I like the spray foam. It actually seals the walls to the studs, I don't see a need for a vapor barrier.
I believe there are a few different styles, closed cell, open cell, etc. I'd do a little homework on the best for your own application. I wonder if heat/AC type changes anything? Unfortunately, I think the foam is quite a bit more coin. Location may change that, too. Good luck. |
Re: Insulation
I did my garage last summer and i put R13 insulation on the walls and i had the rafters spray foamed by a company. I put a mini-split A/C and heat unit in and it works great. I leave the unit on all summer and winter. It hardly affected my electric bill.

Re: Insulation
i believe spray foam adds some structural strength also...
