TH350 question
With my eternal quest for knowledge, I saw (in recent video from Mr. Fazio) that it's possible to have a TH350 with some Mopar much lighter internals parts inside.
It's still a secret or somebody here can share some info or maybe more details on this subject? Thanks, |
Re: TH350 question
A couple of companies build light weight internal stuff for the TH350. ProTrans I believe is the one using the Chrysler pieces. I'd ask around about them, see who owns their stuff. Coan makes an XLT package. I always used the ATI aluminum pieces, with a TH250C shell and output shaft.

Re: TH350 question
Pro Trans does in fact use Mopar pieces in their 350 TH Trans. I have one
and it has been fast and flawless. I don't know how it came about, if the Smith family already had had all the Chrysler pieces, as originally they only built Mopar transmissions, and they were an easy retro-fit to the 350 case, or if the GM pieces were so heavy that it was worth getting the Mopar pieces to fit, or a combination of both. Opening one of their transmissions is like opening up a work of Art. Absolutely beautiful work inside. J.R. |
Re: TH350 question
Thanks Mr. Alan Roehrich and Mr. J.R. Haddad for those information.
This will help me a lot more that you may think... Keep on, |
Re: TH350 question
They are now operating out of Waco Texas.

Re: TH350 question
AMC in 80's used the Chrysler 904 trans with a chevy bolt pattern behind the GM 4 cylinder. Bolts right up to a chevy V8 block and all the internals are 904. They also used a 2.74 low gear instead of the 2.45 standard.

Re: TH350 question
Pro trans also did a Ford C-6 with 904 internals . It was the desired piece until NHRA allowed the C4 to be used in all Fords

Re: TH350 question
rsalami,
How do you tell the Mail truck transmissions that have the 2.74 low gear from the mail truck transmissions that have 2.45 with out disassembling. I have 2 of those mail truck transmissions with converters and on the outside they look identical to me. |
Re: TH350 question
Yep, pro trans out of Waco Texas. They are based on the mopar design, but are all scratch built cnc components. And yes, to say it?s a work of art is an understatement. Just absolutely stunning. Brilliant design and execution.
