shop air compressor

I am in the market for a new shop air compressor. I want it portable, around 25 - 30 gallons, belt drive, and quiet! I also want a quality unit that will be trouble-free. What is your experience?

Thanks for bringing this up. While I don't have a suggestion, I'm looking at upgrading my compressor when I move into my new shop. Hope to get some insight from here.

We were recently looking for a new air compressor, but our requirements are a bit different than yours. We came across this unit that meets most of your requirements. Obviously someone else manufactures the unit, but it gives you a baseline for comparison.

Good luck.

I had one of these for a few years before I bought a house and got a large compressor, it was pretty quiet and ran well for a piston unit. 100% duty cycle and I ran it hard for hours on end on many occasions using grinders on too small of a compressor. If they are still the same as they were 10 years ago, the unit is a rebranded Puma compressor which is a pretty large compressor manufacturer. They sure have went up in price unsurprisingly - I remember paying less than $350 back then.

Larry, I use this one but it's not particularly quiet. It's a good solid compressor though.
