Default Re: Speeds in S/G

I'm gonna go against the grain here and say that being 9.90 at 170 (or even 165) isn't completely all it's cracked up to be from my experience.
I'm one of the higher speed cars in Super Street. When I decided (=Dad let me) run Super Gas in 2008, I was now one of the slower cars in the class. I ran 7 races in SST and 5 races in SG. I won more rounds in SG in 2 fewer races. Why? The car performed great with only a half a second of stop. In one weekend, I had all 8 or 9 runs within 9.88 and 9.93. I wish I could get that consistency in SST and I used to blame the car but it seems like having so much time in the stop made it inconsistent. So I'm not saying that going 9.90 at 170 is a stupid idea but the other extreme isn't all bad.
