Why would people talk about switching tire manufacturers? Mickey Thompson has long been a phenomenal supporter of Sportsman racers, and makes a phenomenal product to go with it. You'd think that this would be a nice opportunity for racers to band together -- not to take it out on M/T, but rather pressure NHRA to allow M/T to compete (and as they said, they would reconsider their NHRA support)
I run the 30x9" M/T radial, even when bracket racing. I find it to be the most consistent ticket-printing tire I've ever had. At the $20K Footbrake at Piedmont, I was on cords early in the day on Friday, and still made it to the semi-finals (red-light). I don't mean like a hint of cords showing, I mean a strip of cords an inch wide going all the way around the tire. Last pass on them was a 1.403!!!
I'm with you M/T. I hope that NHRA revisits their decision and makes it possible for you to continue to do business with them and their racers.
