Re: So what are everyone's thoughts on.......
That's quite an impressive feat to accomplish. Stock has gotten so modified today, far away from the original cars. Last yr. I toyed with trying to run an index in IHRA's Pure Stock category with my totally stock 97 camaro. It has 119,000 miles (highway) on it and has been sitting in a garage for the most part the last few yrs. I had my friend Kenny rebuild the tranny, quick shift kit and all, and bumped the stall a bit in the convertor. Stall wasn't much b/c I wanted it street drivable.I added M/T street radial slicks, tuned the computer a bit and that was it. All else was/is original from GM. It ran 13.60's on a 13.10 index shifting on it's own. I understand it could use gears (has 323's now) and a performance exhaust system with headers, but I don/t know if those two things would get the car below that index. So, my opinion, an amazing accomplishment with a street car in today's stock eliminator category.
